Healthy Living Made Simple

Healthy Living Made Simple
By Dr. Carol Ann Fischer, BS, DC, ND

Worrying about unwanted health issues can cause stress. The general population is not taught how the human body works. Digestive difficulties, sleep issues, fatigue and many other health concerns begin our search for answers for ourselves, or our loved ones. A great deal of time and money is spent looking for solutions to health challenges, yet the answers are not found.

The body is a living organism with 5 simple requirements.
1.    Air    2. Water   3. Food   4. Movement – Exercise   5. Freedom from Mental Stress

Air
Most people let their breathing be automatic, and do not do any deep breathing. Add a few minutes of deep breathing throughout the day to provide your body with essential oxygen. Take a deep breath in through your nose. Fill your lungs with air so that your chest lifts up, as if you are blowing up a balloon. Then exhale all the air as your chest lowers back to its original position.

Live Water
The human body is a living organism made up of 70% water. Living organisms need live water and live food. Without real live food and water the body has a difficult time maintaining a balanced state of health. Live water and live food are the genuine replacement parts your body needs. So what is live water and live food?

Live water is rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants are the number one selling supplement in the world. No one wants to age. We are all looking for ways to stay young and healthy. Antioxidants stop the aging process. They also reduce pain and inflammation in the body. Most drinking water is dead water with no antioxidants. This water ages the body, causing pain, inflammation and acidity.

Live Food
Cooked processed, and fast foods contain no live enzymes. The enzymes that allow food to be digested are destroyed with heat. Live food has the enzymes that allow us to digest. We need to eat a diet that contains live food every day. It is true that what you eat determines how your feel!  The only side effect to live food and water is better health and less stress.

I see many people with poor digestive systems who cannot digest live food. Lack of the specific digestive enzymes needed for proper digestion is the most common underlying health issue people have. The body is unable to get the essential nutrients it needs from undigested food. This creates nutritional deficiencies, which lead to unwanted health issues. Every body is different, and has different needs. The secret to health lies in identifying the specific digestive enzymes that you need that work for you.

Poor digestion also leads to food allergies, food intolerances, parasites and fungal overgrowth. A malfunction of the digestive system creates a compromise of the immune system, and increases stress. Eighty percent of the immune system is in the gut. The immune system becomes compromised when you cannot properly digest.

Movement
Exercise and movement is essential to keep your body alive. Muscles and joints are designed to move, and need to move daily. We are not designed for our sedentary lifestyle, where we sit all day and night. We need to move to promote good health. Movement allows your body to move nutrients into the cells and waste out. Walking just 20 minutes a day increases circulation, elevates mood and improves body health and function.

Movement with Deep Breathing
Recharge your body when deep breathing by adding body movement. Stand comfortably with your feet shoulder width apart. Place your arms together straight out in front of you. Take a deep breathe in. As you exhale move your arms out to each side. Add more movement by bending over when you deeply inhale, letting your arms fall in front of you. Exhale as you straighten up while moving your arms out to the side. Repeat for several minutes to invigorate your body.

Peace of Mind
Freedom from mental stress is the last health requirement. Worry about your health or the health of a loved one produces more acid waste in the body, causing more aging and stress. We need more antioxidants when we are stressed. Our food, water and lifestyle choices have lead to poor health, creating additional stress.

The key to peace of mind lies in identifying the specific nutritional deficiencies that you have as a result of your food and lifestyle habits. At TLC we use through specific testing to help identify the specific digestive enzymes you need, find your missing nutrients and your specific food and water requirements. As you feel better and health improves, exercise and movement become easier, stress reduction occurs and life is enjoyable again.  Visit www.TLCHolisticWellness.com or call (734) 664 - 0339 to learn more.

Stress is NOT a Way of Life

Posted on October 12, 2014 by Dr. Carol Ann Fischer, DC, ND
We live stress filled lives. We eat on the go, and our days are unending. We can’t stop thinking and let ourselves relax and enjoy. We are always working or doing something. We wait for vacations, and then need a vacation after our vacation. We have forgotten how to relax and enjoy life. In our world today stress has become a way of life, but it should NOT be so. The right amount of stress helps motivate us to take action. Too much stress can cause us to feel overwhelmed, overworked, fatigued, and emotionally and physically drained. The adrenal glands, part of the endocrine system, primarily deal with stress. These glands are located on top of each kidney, which is how they get their name, the adrenals.
There are 3 categories of stress   that can cause the adrenals to react. The first is physical stress from poor posture, injuries or trauma. The second is chemical and environmental stress that can be in the form of food, toxic chemicals, insufficient water, missing vitamins or minerals, electromagnetic pollution or allergic reactions. The third type of stress is what most people think of when stress is mentioned – the emotional reaction. We create emotional stress by saying “No Problem”, when we really mean, “No Way.” Stress is cumulative, meaning the different types of stress add up to feeling overload. When the brain determines that it is stressed, it believes everything is an emergency.

There is a natural solution to this 21st century stress overload phenomenon. First identify the different stressors that are causing a stress reaction in your body. Next reduce the stressors that you can by changing your diet, and lifestyle habits. Here are six ways to help you win the battle against adrenal stress burnout.
  1. Follow your natural body instinct to go to bed early, when you first feel tired. Do not stress yourself by staying up late and allowing yourself to get that second wind.
  2. Eat real whole foods and the correct protein requirement for your body type, instead of eating convenience and fast foods. Do not give into sugar, chocolate and carbohydrate cravings.
  3. Avoid dietary stimulants that keep the body in a “stress emergency” state. Do not allow yourself to become dependent upon coffee, pop or caffeine stimulants.
  4. Your body needs water to bathe the inside to flush out as many toxins as it can. When the body cannot flush out the toxins, they are stored in your body fat, adding to weight gain. Do not drink less water than half your body weight in ounces.
  5. Avoid foods made with hydrogenated oils or trans fats. These bad fats damage the cells on the inside of your body. Do not eat junk food, packaged or processed foods that have these bad oils.
  6. How long it will take for you to have your energy return varies from person to person. Have patience and allow your body time to heal. You will know when you are ready to get back into a regular routine. As your body heals your energy will return. Do not force yourself to exercise when you are exhausted, as this will only slow your recovery.
Chiropractic care is an essential tool to help reset the adrenals. Chiropractic reduces the accumulated physical stress on the nervous system, by taking the body out of the “stress emergency” state. Once the body had been de-stressed by chiropractic, exercise can then help to keep the physical stress level down. Nutrition is another essential tool to provide the necessary building blocks for the body to repair weak adrenal glands. Finding and fixing nutritional deficiencies allows the body to heal itself once it has the correct nutrients. Identifying and reducing the toxic burden the body has accumulated is another important component of stress reduction.

The goal of stress reduction and adrenal regeneration is to give the body the necessary tools and opportunity to rebuild and repair the adrenals. Avoid becoming dependent upon natural or synthetic hormone therapy. The hormones produced by your endocrine glands are very potent chemical messengers. High doses of natural, bio-identical or synthetic hormones prevent your body from actually healing. Change your diet and lifestyle habits to remove the interferences that have created the stress. Give your body what it needs to begin to make its own hormones again. Allow your body the time it needs to renew and repair. Your reward will be a new life, filled with energy, vitality and less stress!

Life Essentials

                                         Life Essentials
By Dr. Carol Ann Fischer, BS, DC, ND

The essential requirements for survival have not changed. There are four key factors that determine how long and how well you survive. Theses are unchangeable, and essential to life: air, water, food and motion.  Posted on September 22, 2014 by Dr. Carol Ann Fischer, BS, DC, ND

You need oxygen to survive, which you get from breathing the air. Most people do not breathe deeply, but breathe shallowly. Without deep breathing, you can have difficulty getting sufficient oxygen. This is why exercise is important. You breathe deeper during and after exercise. Without sufficient air, you cannot survive more than 3 minutes.

Your body is 70-75%. Without sufficient water you cannot survive more than 3 days. It is estimated that over 80% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Dehydration has been linked to most major common conditions like allergies, headaches, back pain, digestive disorders, fatigue, depression, arthritis, skin issues, degenerative diseases and more. The type of water that you consume influences the efficiency of your hydration. You lose ½ your weight in ounces daily through normal body function. If you do not replace this amount with water that can get into your cells to hydrate and flush out toxins, you become dehydrated.

Water that cam actually get into the cels to hydrate the body is essential. Not all waters are created equal. All the man-made chemicals, toxins, pesticides and cleaners end up in our city and well water.
The most efficient way to get the best water is to use a water processor to remove these contaminants. A good water system not only filters the water, but it also changes the water so it is more hydrating.

You cannot survive more than 3 weeks without food. Food is an essential component to life, but the type of food consumed matters. Food in its whole and raw form is the most natural food for the body. Processed, manmade food with chemicals and preservatives, composed of artificial ingredients, cannot nourish and rebuild your body. Nutritional supplements made from foods are most utilized by your body, compared to synthetic manmade products. The type of food and nutrients consumed determines the quality of your survival.

The last ingredient essential for survival is motion. Your body was designed to move daily. Current cultural habits require people to sit 80% of the time. Sitting with little motion decreases the mobility of spinal joints, and body fluids. While the heart pumps blood, lymphatic fluid needs body motion. Both spinal joints and lymphatic fluid rely on your movement and exercise for health. Without sufficient motion, joints become stiff and arthritic, and lymphatic fluid flow becomes sluggish, weakening your immune system.

Exercise moves the muscles. If there is stiffness and soreness with movement, it indicates that the joints are fixed in their motion. Chiropractic is the simplest. safest and most effective way to gently mobilize stiff and limited joints, allowing freer motion, and reducing joint pain while exercising.

If any of these 4 essentials are non-optimal, your body experiences stress. The stress response is an inherent body reaction that releases hormones to deal with stress. This results in a hormonal imbalance that creates physical indicators like fatigue, unwanted weight gain, pain, digestive issues, allergies and more.

The solution to longevity is to decrease the stress on the body by ensuring that the 4 key essential ingredients to survival are at optimal levels. By fixing the cause of your body stress, the stress response reduces, your body can repair, and survival is enhanced.

Stop Buying Bottled Water

Stop Buying Bottled Water In DetroitAttention all Novi, Bloomfield Hills, Farmington, Livonia and other  bottled water drinkers: there is a better way to support our personal health and Michigan's beautiful landscape and lakes.

Our body is 70% water, so the type of water consumed definitely influences health, as well as our Michigan environment.

Problems With Commonly Used Waters

Tap water

Tap water

Tap water is a healthier option than soft drinks. But according to the Environmental Working Group, there have been 315 pollutants found in America's tap water since 2004, and over half of these pollutants are completely unregulated and can legally exist in any amount.
At the current levels of contamination, the public is starting to question the quality of tap water and wonders if it is safe enough to drink. Based on these facts, it's no wonder that the demand for Kangen Water® is constantly increasing.

The best-selling bottled waters in Livonia like Fiji, Dasani, and Aquafina are not as pure as you might believe. Many brands of bottled water available in Detroit actually come from municipal water sources from the Detroit River.
Bottled water

Bottled water

Bottled water is not necessarily healthier than tap water and yet it costs much more! Although associated with healthy water, bottled water is not guaranteed to be any healthier than tap water. Often the only difference is the added minerals which have no proven health benefits.
A four-year study by the Natural Resources Defense Council shows that 1/3 of the bottled water tested contains levels of contamination which exceed allowable limits. Bottled water can also be slightly acidic, which may affect your body's pH balance. Finally, the environmental impact caused by the production and disposal of plastic bottles is harmful to our ecosystem.

Reverse osmosis water

Reverse osmosis water

Reverse Osmosis is a filtering process which may be effective in areas that do not receive municipally treated water and is commonly used in bottled water facilities. The problem with this process is that dangerous chemicals like pesticides, herbicides, and chlorine are molecularly smaller than water and can pass freely through the filter. Reverse osmosis removes healthy, naturally occurring water minerals. These minerals not only provide good taste, they also serve a vital function in the body's system. When stripped of these minerals, water can be unhealthy. Also, 2-3 gallons of water are wasted for every gallon of purified water produced.
Enagic USA manufacturers Kangen Healthy Water machines that transform your Bloomfield HIlls, Farmington HIlls, Livonia, Novi and all city tap water into healthy alkaline water.
Michigan bottled water drinkers buy a disposable container that clogs Detroit landfills. The bottles that never make it to Michigan landfills clutter Livonia streets, Bloomfield HIlls sidewalks, and Novi, Farmington Hills and others parking lots.
Cleaning up our beautiful Michigan communities is a great reason to create your own healthy Kangen water® using your Bloomfield HIlls, Farmington HIlls, Livonia, Novi and city tap water, but your family’s health and well-being is equally important. You can process your own water with this device, turning tap water into the best drinking water for our health.
Call TLC Holistic Wellness today (734) 664 - 0339 to learn why Kangen's alkaline water is the healthiest water for Michigan water drinkers, and how you can try this water FREE for 30 days. Call (734) 664 - 0339 to find out when you can get some of this healthy water.
